There’s not much more Canadian than finding a rink or frozen pond, putting on your skates and gliding around the ice. In South Eastern Ontario, there’s ample opportunity to go skating.
You don’t have to go far to find a place to show off your skating skills! No matter where you are in the region, you’ll find a rink that’ll warm your heart on even the coldest winter day. Here are a few must-do ice pads:
Meet up with friends and family and enjoy beautiful and historic downtown Kingston during a fun skate at Springer Market Square. With the city glittering all around you, this is a great way to get outside and enjoy the brisk winter air. Skating in the Square is always free and skate rentals are available. After you’re finished, warm up at one of the nearby restaurants or cafes.
Kingston’s largest natural skating rink is maintained on the reservoir when conditions permit. Warm-up facilities and a bonfire pit are located near the rink. The skating rink can be rented for private functions.
Kingston has several outdoor rinks in parks, located throughout the city.
Get your glide on at the popular Wellington Outdoor Ice Rink. Donated by Michael Hymus; this free area attraction is a favourite place to meet up for locals and visitors. Don’t have your own skates? No problem, just borrow one of the available pairs that they have and enjoy a brisk turn around the rink.
The Prince Edward Community Centre in Picton opens its doors for public skating from September through to March. A great way to get some exercise and embrace that Canadian spirit.
Brockville Outdoor Rinks – In Brockville there is an outdoor rink with natural ice at Memorial Park from January to mid-March (weather permitting). There are also rinks at Rotary Park, one with an artificially chilled natural ice rink and the other is synthetic ice.
Cornwall Outdoor Rinks – Cornwall has a variety of outdoor links located throughout the city. Some rinks have outdoor lights so that you can skate until 10 pm each night.
Dick Ellis Rink – Ice Skating Rinks in Belleville ON – Ice skating sessions for all ages are one of the main attractions at Dick Ellis Rink. Lace-em up and come join the others. Get on the ice and get ready for a great experience.
