Art’s Trails, Galleries & Studios

Artists and artisans flock to this region to be inspired by the natural beauty here, which often weaves its way into their creations. Hosting national and local talent, galleries and arts organizations complement studios which pay tribute to the scenic backdrop of lakes, rivers and lush natural splendor.

The Prince Edward County Arts Trail allows art enthusiasts to meet the artisans, take part in an in-studio workshop or browse the beautiful galleries. There is no shortage of art to explore in The County. Hit the back roads to meet the talented artists and gallery owners who make The County a beautiful place to relax, explore and unwind. With modern galleries, rustic barn studios and everything in between the places you visit will be as diverse as the artists themselves. Artists from across South Eastern Ontario capture the intrigue which stirs the imagination working with, displaying and selling everything from watercolour, oil, pastel, acrylic, collage, encaustic, pen and ink, graphite, pottery, to sculpting and fabric art, photography, jewelry and much more.

Arts and culture is alive and well in Gananoque 1000 Islands with Confederation Sculpture Park, Canada’s largest outdoor contemporary art exhibit.

Talent is showcased in galleries in Kingston, along the Rideau Heritage Route in artist enclaves such as Merrickville, featured at galleries in the 1000 Islands in Brockville and Gananoque and even found in studio along the back roads of Bay of Quinte, Land O’Lakes and Cornwall!

Arts Centres

South Eastern Ontario is known for its heritage, beautiful sprawling waterfront and  as a home to exciting cultural facilities open to visitors year-round.

The Agnes Etherington Art Centre is a research-intensive art museum located on the historic Queens University Campus in Kingston that serves as a learning space and as a public gallery. Its superb collections numbers 16,000 works. Through dynamic year round programs of exhibitions and outreach activities, the Agnes illuminates the great artistic traditions of the past and the innovations of the present.

Also in Kingston, the TETT Centre for the Arts is an arts cluster, a hub for creativity and home to many of the inspiring organizations in Kingston. Active participants include The Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library; the Kingston Handloom Weavers and Spinners; the Kingston Lapidary and Mineral Club; the Kingston Potter’s Guild; the Kingston Arts Council; the Kingston School of Dance; Creativity Studios; Modern Fuel Artist Run Centre, and Theatre Kingston.
