Take a break and visit North Grenville. Located just south of Ottawa, northeast of Brockville and in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, North Grenville is on the Rideau River and encompasses Kemptville, Oxford Mills and Oxford Station, Bishops Mills, Burritts Rapids, Heckston & Peltons Corners.
Start your discovery with a visit to the UNESCO designated, World Heritage Rideau Canal. Check out the Burritts Rapids Lock Station where it’s always fascinating watching the boats go through the Lock. Walk the “Tip to Tip Trail”, a 4km nature walk that takes you through this picturesque historic village.
Talk to the animals during your visit to Saunders Country Critters. This Zoo and Sanctuary is located on 20 acres and houses an impressive array of rescued and rehomed animals from domestic to exotic. Located at 1058 County Rd #44 RR # 1, Oxford Station.

North Grenville has some great eating spots to grab a bite. Curbalicious Food Truck offers up gourmet take away that is drool-worthy, from the popular Halifax Donair to the Curbabowl Salad or Flacos (Flatbread Tacos), this isn’t your average Food Truck. Located on 291 County Rd. 44 in Kemptville.
Next up…water time!
Get out for a paddle on Kemptville Creek where you’ll see herons, ducks, otters, salamanders, and turtles. Drifters Outdoors Canoe & Kayak Rentals can set you up with all you need to take on the water. This 5.5 km stretch takes you right into downtown Kemptville. Take a break at O’Heaphy’s Pub or enjoy dinner at Salamanders or Hyde Smokehouse.
While in town, check out this year’s Kemptville Street Piano Concert Series and “tickle the keys” if you’re inclined – until September 30th.
The area will be hosting this year’s International Plowing Match & Rural Expo from Sept. 20-24th. Plan ahead as this event brings up to 80,000 visitors!
