Whether you’re taking a day trip or a much needed weekend getaway, there’s no lack of things to do (or places to eat) this fall and winter. So when hunger strikes during your adventure, be sure to belly-up at these seven scrumptious eateries in Brockville and Gananoque.

The Mill Restaurant

Located in the historic Robert Shepherd Grist Mill, one of Brockville’s oldest buildings, The Mill Restaurant serves up wholesome food with an Italian and Mediterranean flair. Sharing a delicious meal with friends and family is a pastime synonymous with happiness, and nothing makes you feel better than a full belly along with great conversation. 

Grab your meal to go, have it delivered or come to The Mill and feel right at home from the moment you’re seated. Reservations are requested for lunch and dinner. 


Buell Street Bistro

Enjoy the taste of fine Mediterranean and market garden fare from France native Chef Marc, including a gluten-free menu at the Buell Street Bistro. Experience fabulous food with a side of friendly service in a quiet, relaxed setting. Featuring three separate dining areas, the bistro is ready to quickly serve you, your family or your small bubble of friends. With an expansive menu, even the pickiest eater is bound to discover something tasty. 

While the garden patio remains open into the fall (weather permitting), the interior dining area has reduced seating for the safety of patrons. It’s best to call ahead to prevent a wait. 


Don’s Fish & Chips

It doesn’t get much simpler than fish and chips, and sometimes that’s all we need to find our happy place during a road trip. At Don’s Fish & Chips, you can expect nothing less than feel-good food done right (just ask the lineup down the street). As a counter-style restaurant, you won’t find seating inside Don’s, but what you will find is a flavourful fish and chips along with cheesy poutine. 

For some, it’s a reminder of the U.K. with deep-fried and battered fish served in a newspaper wrapping; for others, it’s an experience that keeps them coming back over and over again. For you, it’s a must-try pit stop when traveling through South Eastern Ontario. 


O’Mally Kourt Fudgery

The fudge and candies make great wedding favours, too. Place your order ahead of time if you’re considering buying in bulk.


The Ivy Restaurant

Set along the shores of the St. Lawrence River, the Ivy Restaurant supplies breathtaking vistas along with fantastic food. Housed in the former inn at the Ivy Lea Club, the restaurant is the perfect spot for lunch, brunch and dinner with a menu consisting of globally inspired dishes mixed with locally grown ingredients. Reservations are requested when visiting The Ivy Restaurant, which can be booked online or over the phone.  

If you’re looking for something a little less formal, stop by The Skiff Cafe next door for Italian coffees, lattes and cappuccinos, freshly baked French pastries, simple breakfasts and smoothies. In addition to the cafe, The Skiff also features a general store with a variety of groceries including meats, cheeses and fresh produce sourced in South Eastern Ontario. 


Cornwall’s Pub

The 1000 Islands has a lot to offer—from outdoor recreation and adventure to rich culture and history—and there’s no better place to unwind than Cornwall’s Pub in Rockport. Situated just off the Thousand Islands Parkway, the pub is the ideal spot to take a break from the road and fuel up with fantastic food. 

Offering a taste of the past, Cornwall’s Pub sits within a historic building surrounded by a stone fence circa 1850. Be sure to take a quick walk around the property before you leave.

The Stonewater Gastro Pub & Cafe is a staple in downtown Gananoque offering a diverse food and drink menu. True to pub culture, everybody is welcome, with the staff going out of their way to make you feel right at home, and the convenient location offers picturesque views of both the Gananoque River and the St. Lawrence River.

Food and alcohol is available for takeout, except during the dinner rush between 6PM–8PM. For daily specials, you’re encouraged to call ahead, as the menu is constantly changing throughout the week.
