Gathering together over good beer: Kemptville Brewing Company

Kemptville Brewing Company may have recently opened its doors, but it’s already a staple in the community.

Shanna Da Silva, Head of Marketing and Event Coordinator, said they are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support. “From the very beginning - when this was just an idea - to the construction phase… we have felt nothing but encouragement,” she said. “Our goal was always to build more than just a brewery. We wanted to create a community hub, and it’s been amazing to watch that happen.”

As the newest brewery on the block in South Eastern Ontario, Kemptville Brewing Company showcases a warm and inviting space where gathering together is a priority. Everything from the way they sourced local materials and builders to the space they’ve created, to the beers they craft has been thoughtfully brought together with the idea of forging those community connections.  “Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast, a foodie, or just looking for a welcoming place to relax, we’re here for you.”

To that end, when visitors arrive, they walk into almost 6,000 sq. ft. that houses the taproom, retail shop, event spaces and brewhouse, with every detail designed with the specific purpose of bringing people in and making them feel welcome.

“This is where the community can come together, unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures of life,” Da Silva said, noting that they’re planning a lively lineup of recurring events, including live music, trivia nights, and seasonal beer releases. “Whether you’re stopping in for a casual drink, family gathering or an event, we want Kemptville Brewing Company to feel like home.”

Brewing up good times
For anyone trying Kemptville Brewing Company’s beer for the first time, Da Silva recommends a beer flight to get a well-rounded introduction to the lineup. A local favourite is Out For a Rip, a clean neutral palate with a crisp, refreshing finish. As an American Light Lager crafted with Pilsner Malt and flaked corn, Da Silva said Out for a Rip is perfect for those looking for a smooth, easy-drinking beer. Here’s a fun fact: it’s also a key ingredient in KBC’s Beer Caesar and KBC Mule.

In terms of a surprising brew, Da Silva said Silo Haze was originally slated to be a niche audience beer, but its juicy mouthfeel exploding with tropical and citrus flavours has made it a staple in their beer flights.

She said a great starting flight would include Out For a RipCoboss - a classic German Pilsner that highlights traditional ingredients - and Trail Breaker Pale Ale, an experience of hop aromas, featuring bright citrus and floral notes without a lot of bitterness.

“This flight provides a great mix of approachable flavours, making it perfect for both craft beer newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts alike,” she said.

There’s always something new brewing at Kemptville Brewing Company and winter is no exception. In February, watch for the release of VanTurken, an American Wheat Ale in tall cans. With a smooth refreshing character and subtle malt sweetness, this nod to local tradition celebrates the small stuff.

From the kitchen
Getting hungry? Pizza is their early specialty. “One of our biggest draws is our imported Italian pizza oven,” Da Silva said. Think BBQ Chicken Pizza with housemade Rideau Fog sauce or the Hawaiian pizza which expertly combines sweet and savoury. The pizzas are made fresh and packed with flavour here. The kitchen is already known for its high-quality, shareable comfort food that pairs with the beer seamlessly. Be sure to try the house-made beer cheese dip here, too!

Da Silva noted that there’s a lot more coming up on tap and in the kitchen. “Seeing our vision come to life has been incredible, and the response has truly reinforced why it was so important to create a space where people can gather,” she said.
